Veterans Day’s Journey: From Armistice to Global Remembrance

Veterans Day, observed on November 11, honors all U.S. military veterans, focusing on living service members, while Memorial Day remembers those who died in service. Originally Armistice Day, marking the end of WWI, the holiday evolved after WWII to include veterans of all wars. After a brief date change to October in 1968, it returned to November 11 due to public demand. The date is also observed abroad, with Canada, Australia, and Great Britain honoring veterans in their unique ways.

PennDOT Announces Resurfacing Projects on Key Upper Merion Roads

PennDOT is launching resurfacing projects in Montgomery County, resulting in lane closures on Flint Hill Road, Jefferson Street, and Gulph Road from November 12-15. These closures will facilitate road improvements, including milling, utility adjustments, and paving. Motorists are advised to expect delays and monitor for weather-related schedule updates..

Valley Forge to hold Veterans Day Celebration

Washington Memorial Chapel will host a Veterans Day Service on Nov. 11 at 11:00 AM, featuring a Choral Matins service and stories from military nurses May Tiger and Carol Mellom. A reception will follow the free event, held in Valley Forge and open to the community with donations encouraged.
