Villanova Alumnus Eric Roedl Returns as Athletic Director

Eric Roedl has been named Vice President and Director of Athletics at Villanova University, succeeding Mark Jackson. A Villanova alumnus and former student-athlete, Roedl brings over 25 years of experience in collegiate athletics, including leadership roles at the University of Oregon and Temple University. He will officially start in January 2025 and plans to emphasize student-athlete success and uphold Villanova’s mission.

Upper Merion Man Sentenced for Endangering Teenage Boy

Alejandro Ceron-Moranchel, 49, of Upper Merion Township, has been sentenced to 20 to 23 months in jail, with credit for 20 months already served, after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. He admitted to requesting inappropriate acts from a teenage boy between 2019 and 2021. Following his release, he will serve three years of probation and face potential deportation proceedings.

Montgomery County Proposes Budget with Property Tax Hike to Address Deficit

Montgomery County officials unveiled a proposed 2025 budget addressing a $15.8 million deficit. The plan includes a property tax increase of nearly 9%, with the average homeowner seeing an annual increase of $49 to $79. Expenditures, projected at $610.9 million, are up 7.6% due to personnel costs, pensions, and health care. The $244.4 million capital projects fund targets infrastructure, planning, and campus upgrades. Public hearings are set for Dec. 12, with a final vote scheduled for Dec. 19.
