Hiring Event: Join the School Districts of Montgomery County on Nov. 25
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is hosting a job fair for school district positions on November 25 in Norristown. Attendees can meet administrators and apply for roles in teaching, support, and maintenance. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
Live Christmas Trees: Local Farms Offer Festive Options Despite Tough Conditions
Local tree farms near Norristown offer a range of options for live Christmas trees this holiday season. While average costs are about $13 per foot, drought conditions in the Northeast are impacting tree harvests and may lead to future shortages. Despite these challenges, growers are prepared to meet this year’s demand, making it a great time to support local farms.
Strike Averted: SEPTA and Local 1594 Reach Safety-Focused Deal
SMART Local 1594 has secured a tentative agreement with SEPTA, avoiding a strike by transit workers in the Philadelphia suburbs. The deal addresses safety concerns with a pilot program for bulletproof enclosures and includes a 5% wage increase. Approximately 350 union members will vote on the agreement after Thanksgiving.
