Municipality of Norristown Addresses Leadership Changes in Police Department

Norristown Police Chief Jacqueline Bailey-Davis, the first Black woman to hold the position, has been placed on administrative leave after 11 months in office. Municipal officials have not disclosed the reasons, describing it as a confidential personnel matter. The decision, announced by Municipal Administrator Leonard Lightner, follows careful consideration. Officials are asking for patience as they navigate the situation, reaffirming their commitment to public trust and community safety.

Help Stock UMACC Shelves: KOP Takes Out Hunger Food Drive Underway

The KOP Takes Out Hunger Food Drive, hosted by the King of Prussia District and Conlin’s Print, supports the Upper Merion Community Cupboard, a food pantry for residents in need. Community members are encouraged to donate priority items at numerous drop-off locations. Sponsored by organizations such as the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and others, the drive aims to fight hunger and support vulnerable neighbors during the holiday season.

Upper Merion Baseball and Softball

Halfway to Fundraising Goal for Major Improvements

The Upper Merion Baseball and Softball Association has launched the “10 IN 10” Capital Campaign to raise $10,000 by December 31, 2024. Funds will support upgrades to Walker Park’s Field #1, including a grass infield, and the addition of an electronic scoreboard at Heuser Park’s Field #1. Donors contributing over $250 will be recognized on UMBSA’s new Donor Wall. The community’s support will enhance facilities and programs for young athletes. They are currently halfway through the campaign and halfway to their goal. Donations can be pledged online, and employer donation matching is encouraged. Pledges can be made HERE.
